62nd Cannes International Film Festival 2009 celebrity gowns

Cannes is said to be an international film festival, where critics concentrate more on films and their artistic values rather than on commercial issues. This may sound like the stars themselves are not that important part of the festival, but let’s be honest – we care about what they wear and how they strut their stuff on the red carpet.

This year a vast mayority of the celebrity gowns were patterned, layered and sheer. There were also many train gowns which is currently my favourite red carpet trend. Fortunately, it wasn’t only black and white that ruled the festival – there were nudes, emeralds, reds and lilacs too.

Best Cannes 2009 dresses

  • in a tea-rose slit-to-there sheer gown
  • (great dress and great lips, but Angelina looks kinda old)

  • in an emerald green, long gown
  • (I’m shocked, Rachel’s dress flashed her perfect legs, besides, the colour is perfectly matched to her ruby hair)

  • Penelope Cruz in Dolce & Gabbana nude dress and sexy stillettos
  • (nude doesn’t mean boring – it is a must for both spring summer 2009 and fall 2009 winter 2010)

  • Aishwarya Rai in a strapless white train gown accompanied with Swarovski accessories
  • (simply stunning, Rai is a beautiful woman who doesn’t know what fashion faux-pas is)

  • Elizabeth Banks in a fabulous red one-sleeved Privé gown
  • (one of my favoutite, at least she resigned from her favourite designer Zac Posen for this Cannes festival)

  • in a voluminous look from Versace Atelier
  • (wonderful! I am speechless, the subtle embellishements took my breath away)

  • Abbie Cornish in a lilac gown by Australian designer Toni Maticevski
  • (paired with “Dane” satin sandals and her boyfriend Ryan Phillipe, Abbie stole the show)
