Here’s the roundup of some stunning celebrity engagement rings to hit the press in the last six months. We will take a look at the style, cost, carat weight, and shape for four memorable superstar engagements.
First up is Bachelorette Emily Maynard’s big bauble from Jeff Holm in the season finale on July 22, 2012. Rumor has it that this ring is the biggest ring to make its way onto the set of both the “Bachelor” and the “Bachelorette” shows. Emily’s ring boasts a 2.5 carat emerald cut diamond set in a classic halo pave (pronounced pah-vay) band — with 87 diamonds around the band. According to US Weekly, the ring’s total diamond carat weight comes to 3.5 carats. We’re not sure what the diamond’s clarity was, but since it was an emerald cut, it’s very likely to be nearly flawless.
Sources differ on the cost of the ring. Us Weekly reports the price tag at $68,000 while Wetpaint.com indicates the ring was well over $150,000. In any case, we know this ring was a nice advertisement for its designer – Neil Lane – who designs the engagement rings for the other Bachelor/Bachelorette proposals, as well as other celebrities.
Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake
Next we have the much anticipated proposal of actress Jessica Biel and popstar Justin Timberlake, after four years of dating. Justin reportedly proposed in Wyoming over the winter holidays and only months later did the Paparazzi get a look at her ring.
Jessica told EntertainmentWise.com about Justin’s ring choice, “’I had no say whatsoever… He is fearless in his choices and has a real eye for design. And I’ll be honest: He has better taste than I do.” Well, he sure did a nice job! Justin selected a six-carat radiant cut diamond with a vintage look and a pave band. One estimate of her new bridal bling puts the price tag at $130,000.
Reese Witherspoon & Jim Toth
Another celeb couple to get engaged during the winter holidays is Reese Witherspoon and her beau/agent Jim Toth. She said yes when he presented her with a retro-look four-carat rare Ashoka diamond set in a band of pave diamonds and platinum. Toth designed the ring with the help of jeweler William Goldberg. According to Goldberg, Jim was impressed with the Ashoka’s rounded corners and 62 displayed facets. Well he certainly paid for it: estimates range from $250,000-$450,000 for this rock candy.
Miley Cyrus & Liam Hemsworth
And finally, Miley Cyrus got engaged to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth on May 31. The Hannah Montana popstar now flaunts a 3.5 carat cushion cut diamond ring. The ring, designed by Neil Lane, has that trendy retro look of intricate floral carvings in the 18 carat gold band — all meant to complement the very sparkly center stone. The ring has been appraised at $250,000.
Cyrus reportedly tweeted the week after her engagement, “Thank you for all the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true.”
And I am happy to report the diamond celeb scoop to you. Let’s hope these marriages last as long as the rings. 🙂
