Accessories and trends – these are my two favourite fashion somethings that I particularly like to write about. It makes it even more pleasurable to write when it’s accessory trend-related post – this is definitely my favourite fashion topic!
I’ve chosen Celine, a French fashion house because their accessories for spring summer 2009 are a pith and marrow of the dominant trends. First of all, let’s concentrate on handbags. The collection includes huge totes, tiny clutches, medium sized clutches and bags.
Material used is basically leather of different colours, also reptile leather in a metallic version (metallic accessories are hot as hell today!). What strikes me the most is a medium-sized yellow clutch made of snakeskin and paired with a yellow tulle coctail dress. Wow!
Also note what Phoebe Philo (creative director of Celine fashion house since 2008) suggests in the terms of bangles and cuffs – this is a crucial fashion accessory directive to match your wrist accessories with your bag. Shoes, on the other hand aren’t exactly an accurate reflection of the bag – they make a match, but they are never made of the same material. Celine points out that bags and shoes are no longer ‘fashion twins’, so it’s better to get rid of that antediluvian habit.
