Black has always been the ultimate and leading colour for all the galas. It is probably about its high-profile, classy image and…about cheating on nature. I remember when I was a teenager and I had a ‘black mania’ – I would always wear black, because I liked the impression of being slimmer. I wonder if this is the reason why celebrities choose black so willingly.
Angelina Jolie chose a (booooring!) black gown, designed by Elie Saab and accessorized it with green emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and – of course – with her partner, Brad Pitt. Thank God, she decided for them. I mean, for the earrings.
Eva Longoria didn’t look like she was in a good mood that night. She appeared at Elton John’s AIDS party in a black Roxborough and Satohler suit. Well, technically, I can’t complain, because suits are also incredibly en vogue, but hey, is this a gala thing?
Gwen Stefani, who chose a Chanel Fall 2008 Couture cocktail dress, paired with her remarkable red pout and Victoria Beckham in one of her FW09 dresses, that apparently made her look like Morticia Adams (Victoria’s maiden name is Adams). I liked her large princess cut emerald ring, though.
