From burgundy and rich leather to decadent Baroque and sophisticated military, fashionistas around the world are excited to add the following new trends to their wardrobes!
Baroque chic
With ornate details and gilded edges, winter 2013 fashion shows debuted many fanciful Baroque pieces. The drama of the 1600’s inspired Victorian clothing has been captured above all by Dolce & Gabanna, who sent down the runway the army of models wearing designs with Rococo-inspired prints, gold embellishments and trompe l’oeil panels. Decadent and edgy, but on the other hand very flattering and elegant, Baroque chic has been popping up on red carpets recently.
Burgundy trend
Bid a goodbye to bright colours of spring and summer and gear yourself to welcome fall and winter with darker palette of hues. Ladies, I’m talking about the new ‘it-colour’ burgundy (AKA bordeaux, wine, oxblood, russet). From Tory Burch and Zuhair Murad to Diane von Furstenberg and Kenzo, burgundy designs were sent down the numerous runways taking a modern stance on elegant attire with the warm, rich hue that gives this season an on-trend, rustic touch.
Leather trend
If you love leather, I’ve got some good news for you. This season, the luxe fabric will come in many colours including burgundy (Derek Lam), mustard (Mulberry), and dark green (Fendi) but black will definitely play the first fiddle. Think about a leather biker jacket, the perfect addition to any fall wardrobe or leather pants, a trend-favourite must. Not sold on the leather-leg trend? No problem. This season offers a feminine alternative to suit your flirty style: a leather dress.
Military trend
The army trend makes its rounds every few years and is generally represented by the green jacket with epaulets, and brass buttons. This fall, however, a military look goes beyond the essential piece as fashion designers commanded military and ladylike to join forces! Look for regimental polish presented in a more subtle way in everything from skirts and pants to dresses and boots. The modern approach torwards army chic has been promoted by Salvadore Ferragamo and Victora Beckham.
Gothic chic
Dark burgundy lipstick and a dramatic smokey eye makeup accompany the strong and hard-core sexy style of a Gothic Goddess. Wearing a floor-length velvet cape in storm-cloud colours with a leather, lace and sheer design underneath, she exudes the aura of mystery mixed with a moody, romantic vibe. The sophisticated goth walked languidly down the runway of Versace and Gucci in a sexy but still classy new way with a crucifix motif on her breasts.
