Cara Delevingne, the 22-year-old catwalk sensation, has just been crowned Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards 2012. What is it about this British beauty that designers and photographers love?
Signature Style
With her dark blonde tresses, thick bold brows and flawless fresh complexion, Ms Delevingne has been capturing hearts throughout the fashion world since she stepped into the spotlight as the face of Burberry in 2010, and her popularity continues to soar – during Fashion Week in September she took part in a staggering 31 shows, and was hailed by British Vogue as the “star face” of the event. Cara strutted her stuff on the catwalk wearing Fendi, Oscar de la Renta and Dolce & Gabbana to name a few; she’s also been featured in advertising campaigns for Chanel and Zara among other brands. She also recently became a Victoria’s Secret “Angel”, modelling lingerie for the luxury brand.
Proudly British
It’s hardly surprising that the Belgravia-born Cara Delevingne has taken so naturally to the fashion world; her mom Pandora is a personal shopper, and big sister Poppy is a renowned fashion model and socialite. The fashion star looked gorgeous at this year’s British Fashion Awards, wearing a metallic green mini-dress by Burberry and a pair of silver peep-toe heels.
The star-studded ceremony was attended by fellow fashionistas Pixie Geldof, Salma Hayek and Rita Ora. “I am so proud to be a British model” said Cara upon receiving her award. “The BFAs are amazing”. Despite her effortlessly elegant appearance, Cara Delevingne is known for her sense of fun and took the opportunity to pull some silly faces as she posed for the camera.
Hollywood Beckoning?
Cara Delevingne also made her big screen debut recently, with a small role in the 2012 remake of Anna Karenina alongside stars like Keira Knightley and Jude Law. She’s revealed she has aspirations to be an actress – in fact she only started modelling as a means to put herself through drama school. Despite her achievements in the fashion world, Cara said in a recent interview “I know I can do more”.
After hear appearance at the BFAs, it’s safe to say Cara Delevingne looks quite at home on the red carpet, and after contributing so much to the world of fashion, it’s understandable that she’s keen to move on and embrace her fist love, acting, instead. Whatever direction Cara Delevingne takes with her career, we’re sure she’ll do it in plenty of style!
