Trends are already emerging for fall. Wondering which styles of clothing and accessories will be must-haves for fashionistas? Have a look at the big fashion must-haves for Fall 2014.

Fur

Fur makes a major appearance in outerwear, be it the entire fur coat, a scarf or just the placement on the cuffs or collar. Although fur is a common trend during cold weather months, it appears very luxurious this season. The new trend to try is astrakhan fur, a type of fur made from sheep, definitely more subtle. It emerged on the runway of Céline, Tom Ford and Givenchy. Look for intricately patterned, multi-layered and artificially coloured fur styles to make a major statement this season.

Sneakers

High-fashion footwear gets more and more comfy every season. In spring we stood in the queue for wedge sneakers designed by Isabel Marant, which Beyonce wore on her ‘Love On Top’ video. This fall, according to Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld, we can ditch the wedge and wear regular sneakers as the footwear of the moment. Fall 2014 Chanel Footwear got Karl Lagerfeld creative with new textures and colours and even knee high sneakers.

Oversized turtleneck

During the past few seasons, we have seen a lot of oversized clothes and accessories. While extremely cozy, the oversized trend is not always the most flattering. However, that does not bother high-fashion designers who suggest soft and cozy 70s-inspired turtleneck sweaters for Fall 2014. It would not be surprising as this kind of knitwear is a winter staple, but this time turtlenecks are ridiculously oversized. At Salvatore Ferragamo, Chloé and Yigal Azrouel they were mainly layered under dresses and skirts.

Robe coat

From Altuzarra to Donna Karan, designers put the look of the robe coat together that hit the runway during New York Fashion Week. This kind of outerwear is characterised with an easy, loungy silhouette reminiscent of a robe. It is fastened at the waist to feel comfy and warm just like at home. Thanks to the loose cuts and heavy fabrics, the robe coat has the chance to dominate stylish wardrobes of fashionistas who will love it for an easy wear: slip on, tie up, and go, no buttoning required.

Wide leg pants

Although no-one risks saying that skiny jeans are the thing of the past, skinnies were extremely rare on the Fall 2014 runways. On the other hand, fashion runways (Jason Wu, Alexander Wang) brought back some of the best silhouettes of free-flowing wide leg pants such as culottes, palazzo pants and wide-leg jumpsuits. Since the trend is easy, breezy and really comfortable, we have seen a lot of wide leg pants in summer already. But how to wear the new pant trend? Forget stilettos that get stuck in the hem and rip it. Style tip: put on a pair of platforms or stacked heels.
