After seeing the new Fall/ Winter designer handbag collections we have no doubt that 2014 is an excellent year in fashion. The handbags for the upcoming season are bold, innovative and extravagant. We have spotted a few dominating trends, which translate well from the runways to the streets. Read on, if you want to find out more about the freshest trends for handbags.
The classic shape of a clutch bag seems to inspire designers more than anything else – this season you will find a clutch bag in almost every collection of the most renowned fashion brands, from Michael Kors to Giorgio Armani. However, as with everything fashion-related, there is a twist to that classic shape: clutch bags for Fall/ Winter 2014 are twice or thrice as big as your typical clutch. Some models are big enough to carry documents! Are these clutch bags comfortable to carry around? Thanks to a useful hand strap attached to the side of the bag, these clutches are more convenient than they look. However, do not stuff your evening bag with too many extra things!
Even the classic Dior brand could not resist the pop of color in their new handbag collection. And not just any color, but cobalt blue, the new trendy shade we have also seen on Diane von Furstenberg fur bag. Louis Vuitton has also presented azure bags every Fashionista would kill for! Do you prefer bags in a few colors instead of one? Be sure to check the new, gorgeous collection of the French brand Vionnet. Another prominent trend in colors is the use of metallic shades. If you like metallic colors you will find plenty in the new collection of Prada, Dries Van Noten, Miu Miu and Kate Spade.
Fur is in
Not surprisingly, the new Fall/ Winter collection includes a portion of good old handbags made of fur. You can find exquisite, furry items in the collection of renowned fashion houses, such as Nina Ricci, Diane von Furstenberg, Giorgio Armani, Vionnet and Jason Wu. There are no definitive rules this season: you can choose a bag with a furry detail or all fur evening bag.
The biggest surprise of the season was delivered by fashion brands such as Kenzo, Sophia Webster, Anya Hindmarch and Moschino. Especially the latter brand created handbags, which are difficult to forget – inspired by the Macdonald’s logo and happy meal boxes, Moschino new handbags are fun and adorable, a perfect fall accessory for anyone, who loves a sense of humor in fashion. If Macdonald’s is not your favorite place to eat out, what about Chinese noodles? Kate Spade created a bag, which is inspired by the takeout boxes typically used in Chinese restaurants. Must check if you look for something original and one of a kind.
A secret message?
The last distinctive trend on the runways consisted of handbags adorned with letters, words and phrases. Kate Spade’s “Hello Tokyo”, Kenzo’s “Forever? No” and Philip Lim’s “Totes” are among the most memorable items this season. Would you like some lait de Coco? If you do, check the newest hit bag from Chanel, which features the phrase “lait de Coco” and looks a bit like a milk carton. Also, notice the pun – lait de Coco can mean both a coconut milk and a milk from the famous Chanel brand. Simply brilliant!
