The elegant Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William, is one classy lady. Well, being the Princess of the Royal Family, you do have an image to uphold; and she holds it well while still appearing fresh, young and stylish. After researching several images of Kate Middleton in various styles of clothing, I have noticed her looks remain consistent, and so I have compiled them into 4 major categories: Eveningwear, Leisurewear, Businesswear and Partywear.
The Duchess of Cambridge looked every bit the future Queen of England when she wed Prince William at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. Her long-sleeved gown, a custom design from Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, included hand-cut English lace, French Chantilly lace, and a six-foot train. Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge paired the breathtaking gown (reminiscent of Grace Kelly) with matching shoes also by Alexander McQueen. Her future grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, borrowed her a Cartier halo tiara to hold her veil in place. Two billion people were watching, and none of them were disappointed.
Kate Middleton’s Eveningwear
When it comes to eveningwear, Catherine Middleton can be spotted in brightly-coloured solid floor-length gowns. They may be simple, but they are anything but boring with their elegant flowing material and pop of colour. Middleton has also been spotted in bright pink and red/orange.
At the BOA Olympic Concert the Duchess of Cambridge opted for a teal lace-back gown designed by her favourite Jenny Packham. Catherine’s gown was embellished with Swarovski crystals and featured a pleated skirt. She completed her ensemble with a satin clutch in a matching colour, Jimmy Choo glitter pumps and an off-the-face updo. Simply royal.
At the Absolute Return for Kids charity gala the Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in a champagne-pink gown from Jenny Packham’s spring summer 2011 collection. She paired her elegant Swarovski crystal embellished frock with L.K. Bennett heels in blush, with a girly bow on the ankle.
Kate Middleton’s Casual Looks
With leisure or casual attire, Middleton remains put-together by opting for blazers, preppy sweaters, simple denim or knee length skirts with stockings paired with loafers or more often seen, knee-high riding boots. Kate loves her brown riding boots and often is seen dressing them up or down with jeans or skirts.
Kate Middleton’s Businesswear
Kate looks just the Princess part for upscale events and activities in knee-length, printed coat dresses paired with simple pumps with a gorgeous fascinator pinned on the side of her head. Kate is often seen sporting pretty hats reminiscent of the late Princess Diana and lace dresses designed by Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen. She wears minimal jewellery, leaving the attention to her accessories: her matching hat and clutch.
Kate Middleton’s Partywear
Middleton knows how to glitz it up for a night out on the town showing a little more leg with an above the knee glittery dress topped with a long, chunky necklace but she still sports knee high boots in an effort to not go too skin-bearing.
Have you noticed her hair is almost always in loose, shoulder-length waves? I’ve also seen it in pretty curls. She reminds me of Jennifer Aniston in that she has a signature hairstyle or look that remains consistent throughout and is timeless.
Despite being slammed by dame Vivienne Westwood, the Duchess of Cambridge remains a true Britain’s queen of style. The most remarkable ensemble Middleton sported in 2011 was her dramatic wedding gown that had just the right amount of royal pomp. Shrouded in mystery until the wedding day, the gown was designed by Sarah Burton from Alexander McQueen.
